Rojak - The Hotch potch

ROJAK -Very well known in  Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Rojak means “mixed up”.Ther are many different types of Rojak.Just fruits and vegetables, or fried fritters of various types.

This is the "Indian Rojak". Dont ask me why its called 'Indian'. I have never ever heard of Rojak in India, and am quite sure nor have you...Yet It does look little like pakodas..

The procedure to order Rojak is as same as "Yong Tau Fu",we pick out the fried potatoes , tofu, or coconut flour ball etc we want from the stall and it is then cut them into pieces and placed in a plate with the sweet chilli dip accompaniment. There are other choices for non-vegetarians.( must say a lot! )

Only order maximum of 4-5 pieces as when they are cut out the plate overflows! Once again a statement made by experience! When I ordered this yummy dish picking and greedily choosing all fritters available in vegetarian , the stall uncle kept giving me a smirk. Too late only to realise, he thought I haven;t been fed for days! My plate looked like a heap of assorted 'rojak'. I devoured all of it to the amazement of the stall uncle, who kept gaping at me.

What still amazes me is the small little rojak stall draws long queues during lunch hours!
A must try if you are in Singapore ( and if on a diet lol )
